Meet the Supervisor Candidate: Brian Munroe

Brian Munroe is a Democrat running for election to the Warminster board of supervisors.

Bio:

I grew up in Delaware and Chester counties, where I joined a volunteer fire company as a firefighter/EMT by the age of 17. After attending West Chester University, I joined the United States Navy when I was 20 years old and served aboard the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt during the Bosnia Herzegovina conflict.

During my service, I received the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Service Medal, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal. I became a police officer in Radnor Township in September 2001 and served until December 2011.

During my years of service, I was awarded a commendation from MADD and Representative Weldon for my service record against drunk drivers.  I was seriously injured during a multi-vehicle crash that ended my career.   I am married to a lifelong Warminster resident and father to two little girls, ages 5 and 2. We have lived in the township for 8 years.

What is the biggest issue facing Warminster voters, and how can you help solve it?

As a township police officer for more than 10 years and as a police supervisor, I have experience with the day to day community service aspect of township government. As a former firefighter/EMT and Navy veteran, I have consistently served my community and my neighbors.

As a Warminster resident for 8 years, husband to a lifetime Warminster resident, and father of two little girls, I wish to help create an environment within Warminster's government that is community friendly and responsive to community needs and complaints.

Issues such as vacant buildings that are eye sores, a lack of community facilities for our youth, and the importance of stopping tax increases are all priorities. But to better respond to the community's needs, we need more positive outreach from the Township to the residents. I believe my experiences working in another Township that was very community-oriented will allow me to create that environment in my home, Warminster Township.
