Blues Singer Richard Ray Farrell Returns to Newtown Theatre

Acclaimed
blues singer Richard Ray Farrell returns to the Newtown Theatre for a
one-night-only benefit concert on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. He will be
accompanied by a back-up band, a horn section and vocalists. Tickets are $25
and can be purchased at www.pickeringmanor.org.
The concert is presented by and benefits Pickering Manor, Newtown’s premier
senior-living facility.

Born in
Niagara Falls, NY, in 1956, Farrell left his hometown only two weeks after
graduating from high school and backpacked his way through Europe. He started
his music career as a street musician in Paris, playing for hours in the
tunnels of the city’s Metro. Farrell eventually formed his own band and has
gone on to perform on some of the largest and most prestigious stages in
Europe, together with some of the true giants of traditional American blues
music.

Farrell
moved back to the United States in 2001, settled in Newtown, Pa., and released
several CDs to critical acclaim. Today, he lives full time in Spain. The Aug.
24 Newtown concert is one of only a handful of U.S. concerts he will play in
2013.
