Dustin the Dog Will Get Special Surgery

Pennsylvania SPCA raised $7,800 for a dog named Dustin that needs special surgery so he can stand, walk and play.

Generous animal lovers have donated $7,800  to the Pennsylvania SPCA so that a dog named Dustin can have surgery that he desperately needs, according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.

Dustin has bilateral luxating patellas and severe bilateral hip dysplasia, which means that both of his hind knees and hips float around and pop out of their sockets. This makes standing, let alone playing, difficult and very painful.

The Pennsylvania SPCA rescued Dustin from an overcrowded shelter but the specialized procedure he needs goes beyond the capabilities of the SPCA shelter hospital. He'll need to go to an orthopedic surgeon.

The surgery will cost about $6,000. The SPCA says it will use the additional money donated to help another dog that needs special medical treatment.
