Help a Warminster Mom Win a New Car

Rebecca Nixon devotes a large chunk of her free time helping charities and non-profits. She is in the running for a new car that will help her continue her volunteer efforts.

Spare time is a commodity for any parent, especially a single mom. Rebecca Nixon of Warminster has somehow managed to use what little time she has left over when she is not working, doing housework, preparing meals and preparing for her son's college expenses to become an active volunteer in the community.

Nixon's selflessness has prompted her own mother, Jane Nixon, to nominate Rebecca in Colonial Volkswagen/Subaru of Feasterville's Driven to Make a Difference Contest. A finalist in the contest, Rebecca has until Dec. 31 to earn enough votes to win a brand new car, either a 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek or a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SE.

"Winning a new vehicle would enable her to continue her good works by having safe, reliable transportation," writes Jane. "She drives a 16-year-old vehicle now and, as a single mother with a son heading to college next year, the chance of her buying a new vehicle is pretty slim."

Jane lists the number of organizations to which she volunteers her time, including:
Walking the 3 Day for the Cure in Philadelphia
Volunteering for the walk in the3 Day for the Cure in Cleveland, Ohio.
She is a buddy along with her son in the Miracle League of Northampton Township, a baseball/softball league for special needs children.
She works with her son's ice hockey team at Archbishop Wood High School and Athletes Helping Athletes, Inc., an organization that connects local special needs athletes with mainstream student-athletes in a spirit of friendship for their mutual benefit and inspiration.
She has been working with the committees to renovate Kids Castle in Doylestown.

Rebecca is currently in second place for the new car. To help her win the contest, voters need to log-in to the website using either Facebook, Twitter or Google+ accounts. Votes will be accepted until Dec. 31, 2013.
