Norman Kelly, Sr., 93, Former Ivyland Mayor

Kelly was a World War II veteran, serving as lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, receiving medals for the American Theater and the Asian-Pacific Theater of Operations.

Norman Kelly Sr., formerly of Ivyland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at the Souderton Mennonite Home. He was 93.

He was the beloved husband of Eva.

Mr. Kelly was born in Philadelphia, the son of Harry H. Sr. and Florence (McCambridge) Kelly. He was the brother of Harry, and the late Leonard and sister Mary; and the father of the late Norman Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Eva; daughters, Janet and Carmen, grandfather of four, great-grandfather of six; and great-great-grandfather of two.

He was a former mayor of Ivyland, and co-chairman for the Restoration Advisory Board for Johnsville Naval Air Station.

He taught for 38 years in the Abington School District, where he also served as coach, and an official with PIAA in wrestling and swimming.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Kelly's name to the Scholarship Fund, Abington High School, Alumni Association, P.O. Box 55, Abington, PA 19001.

Funeral services will be held privately.
