Walter Tyson, Jr., 89, Fought at Iwo Jima

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Tyson's memorial service on Tuesday at the Decker Funeral Home in Warminster.

Walter J. Tyson Jr. of Warminster, Pa., passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 89 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Walter and Anna (Reilly) Tyson.

He was the beloved husband of Elaine G. (Beattes) Tyson of Warminster; loving father of Penny, Joan and Walter III; and brother of the late Joan Fetterolf. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mr. Tyson proudly served as a Marine during World War II, participating in the assault and capture of Iwo Jima.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at The Decker Funeral Home, 216 York Road, Warminster. Friends will be received after 11:30 a.m. until time of the service in the funeral home.

Interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Tyson's memory be made to Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277, 1655 Street Road, Lahaska, Pa. 18931.
