Berks DA Files Homicide Charges Following Death of 2005 Hit and Run Victim
Michael Morrone has been charged with third degree murder after a medical examiner ruled that Christine McGhee's death in March was a result of the injuries she sustained when Morrone dragged her with his car in 2008.
The Berks County District Attorney's office filed homicide charges Tuesday morning against Michael Morrone in the death of Warminster woman .
McGhee died at Doylestown Hospital on March 18, almost four years after sustaining life-altering injuries when Morrone dragged her with his car in a parking lot at Kutztown University. The incident caused debilitating trauma to McGhee's brain and body. The former soccer player could no longer walk or speak, and she was cared for by her parents, Dawn and James McGhee III, at their Warminster home.
An completed by forensic pathologist Dr. Ian Hood determined that McGhee's death was a result of the injuries from the hit and run, according to the affidavit filed by State Trooper Robert Hess.

Marrone, from Marlton, N.J., was convicted in 2010 in Berks County Court for simple and aggravated assault and related offenses and sentenced to 5-20 years in prison. A guilty verdict for murder in the third degree carries a sentence of 20-40 years.
