A 20-year-old Bucks County man has been arrested for spray painting swastikas on businesses in Hunterdon County, N.J., officials announced.
Brandon S. Wetzel of Yardley has been arrested on criminal mischief and theft charges.
According to information from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns’ office, Wetzel allegedly spray painted swastikas and curse words on businesses in West Amwell Township during an April 17 spree. He also cut power lines to the businesses, located along Route 179, prosecutors say.
“West Amwell Township Police were able to obtain a description of the vehicle used during the commission of the crime. It was later determined that a vehicle fitting that description was stopped in the neighboring township of Hopewell on the night in question,” said Kearns.
Wetzel has been charged with one count of 4th degree criminal mischief and two counts of 3rd degree criminal mischief for damage to the buildings. He was also charged with theft for stealing licenses plates from a vehicle parked in the parking lot, officials said.
Wetzel posted $15,000 bail and was released pending a first court appearance.
