Abington Man Stole XBox from Warminster Apartment, Police Say

A laptop, jewelry and backpack were also stolen from a Warminster man's unlocked apartment in June, according to police.

Warminster police filed charges this week against an Abington man who allegedly stole an XBox 360 game console and other items from an acquaintance's home at the Jefferson on the Creek Apartments on Street Road and later sold them for quick cash.

Shane Williams, 23, of Abington, faces felony charges of burglary, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property after police say he entered the acquaintance's unlocked apartment on June 21.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim left his home in the morning with the front door left unlocked. When he returned later that night, he discovered that his XBox 360, a laptop, two silver necklaces and a blue back pack were missing, a total value of $2,050.

During the investigation, a Warminster detective contacted the Warminster GameStop and found that Williams sold a used XBox 360 to the store for $21.50, court documents say.

According to the affivdavit, the victim told a detective he received an expletive-laced text message from Williams saying he robbed the apartment.

The criminal complaint states Williams told the detective during questioning that he stole the items from the victim's apartment and sold the XBox at GameStop and the laptop at the Cash for Gold store on Street Road in Warminster. Police said that Williams also admitted an addiction to Percocet pills.

According to the affidavit, a receipt from the Cash for Gold dated June 21 shows that Williams received $50 for the laptop.

Williams preliminary hearing has been tentatively set for Dec. 12 at 8:45 a.m. before District Judge Daniel Finello.
