Coroner Rules McGhee's Death Homicide

Christine McGhee died Sunday at Doylestown Hospital as a result of injuries from a hit-and-run in 2008, according to the Bucks County Coroner.

The Bucks County coroner has deemed on Sunday a homicide, according to wfmz.com.

McGhee died at Doylestown Hospital from brain injuries sustained by a hit-and-run incident that occurred on the campus of Kutztown University on Dec. 8, 2005, the coroner told the Berks County news service.

An argument with her then-boyfriend, Michael Marrone, started at a college party and continued in Marone's car. Marrone pushed McGhee from the vehicle and dragged her across a campus parking lot, causing severe injuries that took away McGhee's ability to move and speak.

Marrone was convicted in 2010 for simple and aggravated assaut and is serving a 5-20 year sentence and has been ordered to pay $2.2 million for McGhee's medical care.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams echoed ADA Jonathan Kurland's comments to Patch that a state police investigation will determine if homicide charges will be filed against Marrone.
