County Declares Code Blue Weather Alert Starting Thursday

Predictions of snow and dropping temperatures later this week forced Bucks County to declare a Code Blue alert beginning Jan. 2.

The weather outside promises to be a bit frightful later this week, prompting Bucks County emergency management officials to declare a Code Blue beginning 6 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.

According to the latest predictions from the National Weather Service, snowfall is expected for Thursday afternoon, with temperatures dropping from the mid-30s to as low as 19 Friday. Friday night promises to go down to the single-digits, before bouncing back to the high 20s on Saturday and mid-40s on Sunday.

The Bucks County Emergency Management Agency has made arrangements with the on-call churches, Woodside Presbyterian Church in Yardley, Trinity Episcopal Church in Buckingham and West Swamp Mennonite Church in Quakertown, to activate their emergency shelters. The on-call churches will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.
