Eastbound Turnpike Shut Down from Tractor Trailer Collision

Three tractor trailers and two cars collided on the turnpike early Friday morning.

For travelers on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Friday's commute has become a big mess. The eastbound side has been completely shutdown near the Bensalem exit, and westbound travel is down to one lane as crews clean up an accident involving three tractor trailers and two cars.

According to NBC 10, the collision on the eastbound side pushed debris from the median into lanes on the westbound side, reducing the traffic to one lane. The accident occurred at approximately 6 a.m.

6ABC.com reports that one person had to be extricated from a vehicle. According to officials, the eastbound lanes won't re-open until at least 11 a.m., if not later. More information will be added as it becomes available.
