Updated: Fire Rips Through Paper Filled Trailer, Damages Building

A fire at a building on Louis Drive in Warminster remains under investigation.

Update, June 28, 7 a.m.: The cause of Tuesday night's fire at Americor Press is currently "undetermined," Warminster Fire Marshal Dan Laurich said Wednesday afternoon.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Laurich said he does not believe the fire, which was contained to a portion of the loading dock, a trailer filled with paper and a dumpster, is connected to a similar April fire at the IWOC direct mail facility off Jacksonville Road.

Tuesday night's fire was reported to 9-1-1 by a passing motorist. Fire crews from several departments promptly responded and contained the flames.

Original story: A fire at the late Tuesday night destroyed a nearly 50-foot-long white trailer and caused damage to the large building.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., a large white column of smoke could be seen rising from the Louis Drive area. Within minutes, dozens of firefighters were at the scene fighting the blaze, which burned for more than an hour.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, flames were visible from a dumpster near the building, a trailer and the roof of the loading dock, Chief Mitch Shapiro said.

Firefighters knocked the bulk of the fire down before 11 p.m. and began checking the rest of the large printing facility for extention. Luckily, the fire damage was contained to the loading dock area, the chief said.

Warminster public works crews were called to bring heavy equipment in to knock the trailer over and tear it apart so firefighters could douse all of the flames. An overhead hose mounted to a ladder truck sprayed a heavy stream of water down onto the flames.

Warminster township officials had not announced the cause of the blaze as of early Wednesday morning, authorities said. A larger than normal police presence was spotted at the fire scene Tuesday.

In late April, a fire of a similar nature occurred less than a mile away at the IWCO Direct facility off Jacksonville Road. That fire involved a trailer parked at the direct mail facility. Around the same time, officials in nearby Horsham and Upper Moreland were dealing with .

Fire crews from Hatboro, Hartsville, Northampton and Upper Southampton assisted the Warminster Fire Company at the scene. The Horsham Fire Co. and Willow Grove Fire Co. covered for the township fire department during the call, Shapiro said.
