Hockey stick assault in Linfield; jewelry and clothing theft at Kohl's

A Linfield man is facing assault and harassment charges after allegedly attacking his wife with a hockey stick on Sunday evening.

The man's wife told police her husband had become angry after her son used the hockey stick and got mud on it. During the ensuing argument, the man allegedly threw the hockey stick at her and struck her on the hip, then left the premises on foot.

The officer who responded to the scene said the man's wife appeared to be in "severe pain." She was transported to Pottstown Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Her husband later returned to the scene and was taken into police custody.

He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail, permitted to pick up belongings from his Longview Road home, and ordered not to have any contact with his wife pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 7.

Massachusetts woman charged with theft at Kohl's

A Massachusetts woman is charged with retail theft for allegedly trying to steal six pieces of sterling silver jewelry and some clothing from the Kohl's store on S. Township Line road on January 21.

According to Limerick Township police, a loss prevention officer at the store observed 25-year-old Kayla Caissie of Worcester, Ma. selecting various items from the jewelry department, then making some clothing selections and taking all the items to a store dressing room.

She allegedly emerged from the dressing room wearing one of the clothing items and a "conspicuously fuller" purse. According to the store employee's account, Caissie then purchased only three items at the front of the store, met with an "uninvolved" female friend, and exited the store with the unpaid items. When confronted, Caissie returned to the store and waited for police.

When she was taken into custody, police said, she told them that she had marijuana in her purse.  Police confiscated what they called "a clear ziplock bag containing a green botanical substance," later confirmed to be marijuana.

Caissie is free on $1,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Do more people shoplift at Kohl's, or is their security just better than other retailers?
