Local Stations Mourn Firefighters Killed In Kensington
Fire companies throughout the city and suburbs are flying flags at half staff.
Just days removed from the death of two Philadelphia Firefighters at a Kensington blaze, fire brethren mourned their fallen peers.
From Philadelphia Fire Ladder Company 10, Lt. Robert Neary, 60, and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney, 25, were killed fighting a five-alarm warehouse fire on Tuesday. On Friday, funerals were scheduled for both men.
Throughout the city and suburbs, fire companies raised flags at half-staff to honor Neary and Sweeney. Others hung black bunting.

"Firefighters are one big family," said Warminster Fire Chief Mitch Shapiro. "When something like this happens, everybody takes it personally."
The Warminster Fire Department will send a ladder and engine with about 12 representatives to both memorials. Neary’s viewing will take place at Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road, starting at 4 p.m. Sweeney’s viewing will take place at St. Cecilia's Church, 535 Rhawn Street, at 5 p.m.

Members of the , where Sweeney worked part time as a paramedic, will also bring trucks to tomorrow's funeral service at St. Cecilia's in Northeast Philadelphia. Lt. Leland Miller, a four-year volunteer with the ambulance corps, was devestated when he heard the news.
"I was at a loss of words," said Miller. "He was such a positive presence in the corps. Dan was definitely a mentor for everybody that he worked with."
