Lower Moreland Police Use Taser on Warminster Man Claiming to be God

LMPD responded to St. Albert's Circle after a man broke through a resident's front door.

Orlando Fioravanti, 41, of Warminster, faces charges of burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief and making terroristic threats after an incident that occurred at St. Albert’s Circle in Huntingdon Valley on Wednesday, March 14.

At 11:39 a.m., Lower Moreland Police Department responded to the scene after being told a man was acting very loud and boisterous and broke through a resident’s front door.

Fioravanti continued to yell and scream once police showed up. He refused to listen or cooperate to any of its commands and began to say threatening remarks. After telling police, “I am God,” he then said, “If you touch me I will kill you.”

LMPD then used a taser on the Warminster man to arrest him, and then he was taken to Abington Hospital for treatment. He was then transported to Norristown State Hospital.

According to police Fioravanti did not know the person whose door he broke down.

Well, thank God he was medically cleared?? or did he just go to crisis and then Norristown building 50. Let's hope the police did the right thing. Individuals with mental illness already have their hearts compromised due to the nature of their medications. Tasering someone can alter their heart rhythm. FYI: just because someone is acting out does not mean they do not have an elongated QT.. get it?

I agree. The general public has little to no medical background, have no idea how the heart beats. A taser can very well set off an ectopic beat anywhere in the heart and cause anything from a simple PAC to life-threatening ventricular fibrillation especially if that person is in adrenergic overload from the excitement and stress of the event that led to the use of a taser. Also, if the person (suspect) is hypokalemic or hyperkalemic, there can be cardiovascular issues. I'm NOT implying that the use of tasers is wrong; I'm sure it has been quite beneficial in many cases. However, law enforcement should have a enough knowledge of the exact physiology of the heart prior to using the taser as if it was as safe as a water gun
