Officer Didn't Tamper with Reports, Court Finds

Warminster Police Cpl. Michael Allen Schmalz has been acquitted of tampering charges.

A Bucks County Judge acquitted a Warminster police officer on charges of tampering with public records on Thursday. 

The when Warrington police officers arrested and brought in 31-year-old Shaun Patrick Queeny to the Warminster Police Department for booking for disorderly conduct. 

PhillyBurbs.com reports that Judge Albert Cepparulo concluded that Schmalz had simply made a mistake in his reporting of the incident.

Initally, Schmalz, a 10-year veteran of the Warminster Police Force, was charged with harrassment, assault, and oppression in addition to the tampering charges, but the other charges were not held over for trial. 

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler told PhillyBurbs that the case was “a lesson learned.”

It is not clear at this time whether or not Schmalz will resume his post with the Warminster Police.
