Philly Fire Chief Fired After Warminster Arrest

Robert Wilkins was placed on a 30-day suspension with the intent to dismiss because he failed to report his arrest by Warminster police in September 2011.

A deputy chief from the Philadelphia Fire Department has been placed on a 30-day suspension with the intent to dismiss becaue he failed to report that he had been arrested by Warminster police and charged with in September 2011, NBC 10 reports.

Robert Wilkins, 50, pleaded guilty last month to two counts of disorderly conduct and harrassment and sentenced to serve 90 days of probation. Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers told NBC 10 that while Wilkins was a good worker, his decision not to tell his superiors of the incident was unacceptable.

Warminster police responded to a call on the night of Sept. 24 at the  on York Road, where they found a woman who said she had been assaulted by her husband while he drove their car southbound on York Road. The suspect was identified as Wilkins, who surrendered to the police the next morning.

Wilkins was also involved in a March 2010 incident when he shot a woman trying to enter his home. Police ruled the shooting as self-defense and did not charge Wilkins.
