Police Arrest Man Wanted in Connection to Bucks Landing Murder

Camden and New Jersey State police arrested Laurie "Turtle" Wint early Sunday morning. Another suspect is still at large.

An anonymous tipster led Camden and New Jersey State Police early Sunday morning to the front door of a home where one of two suspects wanted in connection to the of Tyrone Newman was hiding out.

Laurie Wint, 23, a.k.a. "Turtle" or "Lance," tried to escape out the back door only to find the property completely surrounded. He ducked back into the house and was found hiding in a basement closet. Wint was armed with a rifle when found. No shots were fired and Wint was placed in the Camden County Jail on $1 million bail.

He is suspected by Camden County of shooting and killing New Jersey resident Kevin Miller June 8.

It is alleged Wint shot Miller at Eutaw Park at approximately 7 p.m. on June 8. The victim was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and was pronounced there about 8:40 p.m.

It is further alleged that on July 24 at approximately 2:30 am, Wint participated in the killing of Tyrone Newman at Bucks Landing Apartments. Responding officers located Newman lying on the basement level of K building, in front of an apartment with numerous stab wounds to various parts of his body. Newman was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital were he died from his injuries. 

Another man, John T. Briggs, 24, of Camden, is still wanted in connection with the Newman homicide.
