Police: Attempted Child Luring a Misunderstanding

Two children walking home from school were approached by a man driving a blue SUV Wednesday afternoon.

Update, 5/30, 10:21 p.m. from the Warminster Police Department: 

The Warminster Township Police Department has identified the vehicle and individual involved in this incident. The police department has determined that this was a miscommunication between the driver of this vehicle and a family member who was walking home from school and was overheard by other students. As a result the police department believes there was no threat to the safety of any of the children involved in this matter. This matter is considered closed.

The Warminster Police would like to thank the community for reporting this matter promptly and we continue to encourage all citizens to immediately report all suspicious persons and circumstances by calling 9-1-1.

Original article: A parent reported to the Warminster police department Wednesday afternoon that a man driving a royal blue SUV asked two seven-year-old children if they needed a ride home.

The incident occurred on Roberts and Muller road at approximately 3:30 p.m. as the children were walking home from . According to the police statement, the children refused and ran to a nearby parent, who notified the authorities. No one was injured or harmed.

The driver was described as a white male, 45 to 50 years old, short grey and brown hair and wearing a red T-shirt and mirror sunglasses.

The Warminster Police are asking any one with information regarding this incident to contact the police department by calling (215) 672-1000. Also, the Warminster Police ask all citizens to immediately report all suspicious persons and vehicles to call 9-1-1.
