Student Struck in High School Driveway

A female student was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car.

Shortly after dismissed Tuesday afternoon, a sophomore crossing the school's main driveway was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by a fellow student.

Medical personnel took the victim to the hospital where she is being treated, the district said in a statement to parents.

The female victim, a Southampton resident according to classmates, was crossing the front driveway of the school when she was struck by a Hyundai heading toward Centennial Road.

After striking the victim, the driver of the Hyundai stopped, according to the district. The driver is a William Tennent student, the district said.

The victim had blood on her face and appeared to be suffering from a broken arm, a William Tennent senior, who did not wish to be identified, told Patch.

Parents of the students involved in the incident were notified and were able to be with their children, Centennial reported.

The school's "administration, security and guidance team were immediately responsive and worked closely with the police and EMTs to insure that the situation was handled," Joyce Mundy, assistant superintendent, said in an e-mail to media and parents.

Patch is awaiting more information on the crash from Warminster police.

Actually, to be correct, it was the student that struck the vehicle, not the vehicle that struck the student!
