Warminster Man Accused of Daytime Home Burglary

According to reports, police arrested the suspect Wednesday morning after an officer spotted him escaping out a side window.

A Warminster man is charged with two felony counts of burglary and criminal trespassing after police arrested him after he jumped out of the side window of a home on Valley Road, according to a release by the Warminster Police Department.

Mark Teufel, 28, has been remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail. According to the report, a witness phoned the police Wednesday morning when he did not recognize a young man loitering outside a neighbor's home.

Officers from the Warminster and Warrington police departments arrived at the house and saw that the suspect had entered the premises. While surrounding the home, an officer saw Teufel jump out the side window. The report says Teufel had jewelry from the home in his pockets.

Good job by the neighbor to help the Police catch this guy. Working from home and being a runner I am always on the lookout for suspicious activity.

Teufel is the German word for devil. If the shoe fits....
HONEST MOM September 27, 2012 at 07:52 PM
That is uncalled for. This young man does have a family that has had more than their share of heartache. I'm not dismissing what he's done but please remember things like the above comment do hurt his family and they don't deserve that.

Teufel should not have been breaking into people's homes and stealing their jewelry. I know the courts say innocent until proven guilty but he was caught in the act here. I am ok with him being ridiculed for what he has done.

honest mom, you are right the person does have a family, but when a person breaks into anothers home and takes things, well lets just say they are not a good person, which sadly does have an effect on the family but the family didnt steel and if they are trying to help him get away with it (which i doubt, but i dont know them) then they are as bad as him. I always feel someone who takes from another has reasons, and maybe someone who knows him can shed some light on them, Until then punish the young man according to the law but unless his family was there helping leave them out
HONEST MOM September 27, 2012 at 09:29 PM
I'm simply referring to the statement "Teufel is the German word for devil." The whole family has that name not just this one young man. Lavender....why even speculate about this family..."if they"...they are a very good family. I'm thinking of the mother in this situation. Over the years she has had more than her fair share. She lost a son very young years ago in a car accident and recently lost her husband in a work related accident. I'm sure this will break her heart too and I feel for her. I'd just appreciate if folks would not lump the name Teufel to mean the devil is all. I can't speculate why Mark would do this. I would have no idea. He was raised in a very good family. I'm sure the authorities will get to the bottom of this and he will be punished accordingly. I just don't think we have to help break his mother's heart anymore than it must all ready be broken.
Kevin Quinn September 27, 2012 at 09:56 PM
Just wanted to point out that this wasn't his first offense. Mark Teufel, 27, Warminster, pleaded guilty to manufacturing/delivery/possession with intent to manufacture or deliver Nov. 6. Sentenced to confinement of 3-23 months, parole at minimum, ordered to pay costs.
Tired of Hypocrisy September 28, 2012 at 07:36 AM
My concern is for the family who live in the home that Teufel burglarized. Their feeling of being secure and safe in their home has now been taken away through no fault of their own and all fault of Teufel. As for his family, if he adds to their heartache, so be it, that is their problem. I have no concern for the family of the criminal, they are not the victims here. Obviously they knew their son has a problem.

Honest mom....jf1968 is merely translating his name..... http://www.vocabulix.com/online/dictionary.jsp ....see for yourself. A simple Internet search would have led you to this answer. As for this scumbag....he is lucky that he didn't break into an off duty police officer's house, much like those two guys did back in the summer....two went in, but only one came out...now, we as taxpayers will have to foot the bill for his "rehabilitation".
HONEST MOM September 28, 2012 at 11:02 AM
I too feel badly for the victims of this burglary. In no way do they deserve to have the safety and security threatened. No one has the right to take their feeling of being safe in their own home away from them. Yes it is Mark's fault and again I'm sure he will be held responsible for his actions. All I'm asking is that you do not assume his family knew what he was doing. His mother is a wonderful woman and I'm SURE she had no idea he was doing such things. Also keep in mind that the man is 28...did your mother know your every move at 28? My heart breaks for the family who was victimized by this man. My heart also breaks for the Teufel family....not Mark himself...but his family.

Another example of why there is clearly something wrong with our country. A man commits a crime and a lady is on here trying to vie for the family name...I don't care about the Teufel's, what I do care about is the family that has to live in that house and have the constant thoughts that someone broke into their home and what if it happens again. Speaking from experience, it was uncomfortable being in a house knowing someone was in their that was not welcomed, hopefully the VICTIMS can overcome those feelings quickly.
Sickofignorance September 28, 2012 at 12:58 PM
You know what is rediculous that people have nothing better to do than to sit here and rip people apart. Yeah, he did something stupid but I agree with Honest Mom!! That family has been through more than I could even imagine being able to withstand!! I'm sure that no one on this page has been perfect their entire lives and never commited a crime or done something they regret! Let it be...my heart goes out to Mrs.Teufel and to Mark and Nick! So he isn't handling his devistation the way most would, there's no need to blast him online.
Charles Kruzits September 28, 2012 at 01:09 PM
I agree that the Teufel family should not be grouped in with a family member that committed a crime, but, to say that not everyone is perfect when trying to validate others commenting on this by saying not everyone's perfect and done something they regret is a weightless argument. I have made mistakes and done things I regret but never committed a crime, I know what's right and wrong and burglary falls into that category as wrong. If you don't want to get blasted, do not commit a crime. I guess I am not allowed to speak negatively towards Jerry Sandusky and other criminals in your eyes.
Someone who cares September 28, 2012 at 03:24 PM
THETEUFEL's are a VERY RESPRCTED family in the Warminster community! I happen to know the family and the family member with whom he has been residing with for the last 6 weeks or so. This particular family member has shared a home with Mark and Mark was compliant with house rules and respectful. He fell of the path and made a very bad mistake. He has a wonderful family including a lloving brother, aunt, uncles, grandmothers, grandfather, cousins, and Most Special A VERY loving caring mother (thank you honest mom!) and they have recently had their fair share of heartache especially recently. So to all of you bored people out there with nothing else to do..LEAVE THE POOR FAMILY ALONE. If you have nothing nice to say don't comment at all. Mark was wrong and he knows it. Unfortunately he will pay a price which is appropriate. This family only has the best intentions for each other but they are not enablers. Keep it straight unless you know the family or the situation (thank you sickofignorance!) GOD BLESS THE TEUFLE FAMILY!
Lavender Green September 28, 2012 at 04:24 PM
Its so nice to see so many caring people in our community, the truth is I don't know the family but as a mother and grandmother I do agree that the family does not need any unjust ridicule. I send loving thoughts to all the people who were/are not responsible. Sometime with a first offense its just a matter of bad judgement and some people do learn from it. I believe that people do deserve second chances. In no way am I passing judgement on the family, its sad that one family now feels violated, but its also sad that another needs to deal with the after effects of a bad judgement.
Pete Krenshaw September 28, 2012 at 05:33 PM
I am not looking to bash the family or even talk about them one way or the other. As for Mark Teufel, read this article: http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/crime/wary-neighbor-helps-nab-suspected-burglar/article_17ce631d-4983-509b-ad75-94bd12b9e362.html Of most interest is this paragraph: "Earlier this year, Teufel was found guilty of drug possession charges in Philadelphia and was placed on probation. Last year, he was sentencing to three to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges." He is a repeat offender who still has not got it together. It is sad but he needs to be punished accordingly. It is especially sad for his family but that's the way it goes.
J.R. sr September 29, 2012 at 09:58 AM
Honest mom, no one is talking about this man's family except you. Yes you are correct in saying that his whole family has this surname, but so do many other people.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teufel_(surname) ...so I guess that means that all these people are being called a devil too huh?
J.R. sr September 29, 2012 at 09:59 AM
It is obvious that this guy is having a tough time being rehabilitated...maybe he should be sent directly to Australia. That is still a penal colony, right?
HONEST MOM September 29, 2012 at 10:05 AM
Look I don't want to debate this forever. Just don't think it was necessary to say his last name proves he is the devil especially since his whole family has that last name. His mother is a very good person and I am sure she is extremely saddened already by what he's done. I'm sure she feels horribly for the people her son victimized. BUT this woman is also a very recent widow and that last name was also her dear husband's last name. No need to say Teufel = devil.
Concerned Resident September 30, 2012 at 10:23 AM
He did more than make a mistake. He is a drug addict & criminal. His family must know this. And he victimized another family in the same community where his family lives.
