Warminster Woman Attempts Bank Robbery, Police Say

A specially trained police negotiator had to talk the alleged bank robber out of the First Niagara Bank Saturday afternoon.

A Warminster police officer trained in negotiations by the Central Bucks Special Response Team responded to the First Niagara Bank located on Veterans Way in Warminster at approximately noon Saturday to talk out a woman attempting to rob the bank, according to a statement from the Warminster Police Department.

The statement says that Francine Boettinger, 50, of the Bucks Landing Apartments, passed a note to a teller that implied she had a weapon.

When police arrived, Boettinger was still in the building with three bank employees, according to the report. Officers from Ivyland, Upper Southampton, Northampton, Lower Southampton, Upper Moreland and Hatboro police departments secured the surrounding area while the negotiator made contact.

Eventually, the three employees exited the bank, with Boettinger following soon after, according to the report. She was taken into custody without further incident and arraigned before Judge John Kelly for two felony counts of robbery and receiving stolen property and related charges. The police statement says a knife was recovered at the scene but not displayed during the incident.
