Warrington Businessman Charged with Defrauding State

Mark Stein, of Land Tech Enterprises, allegedly solicited employees to apply for and fraudulently collect Pennsylvania unemployment compensation while continuing to work full-time for his company.

The US State Attorney's office charged a Warrington businessman with five counts of wire fraud Friday, following an alleged unemployment scheme. 

Mark Stein, 48, of Warrington, is the CEO of Land Tech, Enterprises, a landscaping company in Bucks County.  

According to information provided by the US State Attorney, Stein solicited company employees to apply for and fraudulently collect Pennsylvania unemployment compensation while continuing to work full-time for his company.

The information alleges that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was defrauded of at least $43,589 between June 2010 and May of 2011. 

If convicted,Stein faces a maximum possible sentence of 100 years of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, a $1.25 million fine, and a $500 special assessment.

The case was investigated by United States Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, the Department of State, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Laurie Magid.
