All GOP Board of Supervisors Start New Year

Moments after taking his seat as the chairperson for the Warminster Board of Supervisors, Dan McPhillips said that 2014 will be the year of fiscal responsibility.

"We have a great team in place," said McPhillips, referring to the rest of the board and township professionals. "We are going to continue to be responsible with our spending while maintaining a high level of township services."

District Judge Dan Finello began the evening by swearing McPhillips into his first full-term as a supervisor. McPhillips was appointed to the board in 2012 and won last November's general election, along with first-time campaigner Jason Croley. The two supervisors join Leo Quinn, Tom Panzer and Mark McKee on the Republican-only board for 2014.

"I think that's a reflection of the residents realizing that the Republicans are good stewards of the township," said McPhillips.

November's general election saw a Republican sweep in the major offices, including the re-election of tax collector Barbara Loftus and the election of Stephen Sweder as township auditor.

It was the first election campaign for Croley, who unseated lone Democrat Frank Feinberg in November. Everyone on the board may be in the same party, but Croley says that does not necessarily mean there will be a rubber stamp on every piece of business.

"We have five very different viewpoints that are affected by our own experiences," said Croley. "I'm going to be asking a lot of questions of the professionals as we get started this year so nI can get a better understanding of how things operate. I will use my skills form the private sector to help the township prepare for the future."
