Gov. Tom Corbett will briefly hand over control of the state on Thursday morning as he undergoes hernia surgery, the Governor’s Office said.

Lt. Gov. James Cawley of Bucks County will be acting governor during the time that Corbett is under general anesthesia, as is outlined by the Pennsylvania Constitution, the Governor’s Office said.

The outpatient procedure will be performed by Dr. John J. Reeves at Allegheny General Surgical Center in Pittsburgh, and is expected to take about an hour and a half.

The Governor’s Office said that Corbett will resume his duties immediately following surgery. He will recuperate at his home in Shaler Township, Allegheny County, over the weekend and will return to Harrisburg on Monday.

Corbett, 64, underwent a recent physical, his office said, and other than his abdominal hernia, was found to be in excellent health.

Facts are awesome. I couldn't get through a day without them. Fracking is safe, per the EPA, summarized in USA Today: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2012/07/epa-declares-pa-fracking-village-water-safe-to-drink/1#.UxCVB_mwJNM The only detractors are those offering unsubstantiated opinions, not a single fact. Lt. Governor Cawley crafted the fracking deals, and land and business owners in the affected area who never before felt they had a shot at wealth are ALL profiting. Perhaps detractors feel they aren't profiting enough, demanding more? Hmm.

Even though the EPA has fallen under the Obama Administration control for the past six years, you don't trust its scientific testing methods and published results, Jane? I am always respectful to others with differing opinions; do you object to the way I phrased something in this thread?

1. The US exports more oil than it buys from abroad. I don't get how that's logical and a good use of what little money we have given the trillions we are in debt to China and others. Fracking is risky business. I for one don't want to risk damage to the planet, both above and below ground. Because we can all trust the EPA to perform its duties properly as opposed to the IRS, etc., that under this administration have played fast and lose with a sound system. Others have done so before, but none have ruled by executive order as now. I, too, wish Gov. Corbett well in surgery and recovery, but feel I was sold a bill of goods during the election and would not have voted for him had I known what he'd end up doing. Still, I'm not sure he's worse than Rendell. Let's all be careful next time whom we vote for.
