In anticipation of the next cold front to envelop our region, the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) joins the county Health Department to issue a “Code Blue” declaration between 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 26 and 7 a.m. Sunday, March 2. The National Weather Service is predicting consecutive days of frigid temperatures. The EMA has made arrangements for Feb. 26-28 with the on-call churches, The Church of Living Hope in Langhorne, Doylestown Presbyterian Church in Andrews Hall in Doylestown and Salem Mennonite Church in Quakertown, to activate their emergency shelters. On March 1, the lower Bucks County host site moves to Calvary Baptist in Bristol and upper Bucks shifts to St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church in Quakertown. The on-call churches will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.
County Emergency Services Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. They advise all residents to be aware of the severe anticipated weather conditions. Caution also should be taken with pets during the anticipated period of extremely cold temperatures.
