County Provides Update on Veteran ID Card Program

Card gets discounts for veterans at area businesses.

One week into the Bucks County Veteran ID Card Discount Program, the Recorder of Deeds office has processed more than 425 of the wallet-sized color cards.

Veterans can fill out an application and get photographed for the discount ID card, which can be used for savings at area stores.

"This is a value-added service that goes with having their discharge papers recorded with the county," said Dan Fraley, director of veterans affairs. "This is a universal card that can be used at more stores as they start participating. We really want to attract a lot of local businesses, like restaurants and pizza shops."

The Veterans office, which is located on the second floor of the Bucks County Courthouse (55 E. Court St., Doylestown, PA 18901), is open weekdays from 7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. to process the ID cards.

All veterans are asked to bring their DD-214 discharge form with them at the time of application. If they have already filed that paperwork with the Recorder of Deeds, staff will look up that information on the county’s database.
