Dan McPhillips Sworn in as New Warminster Supervisor

Prior to calling Thursday night's board of supervisors meeting to order, a new member had to be officially added. Standing beside his girlfriend, Megan Snyder, and with his hand on the Bible, Dan McPhillips was sworn in by Magisterial Judge Dan Finello as Warminster's new supervisor. McPhillips was from a by a 3-1 vote at the March 15 meeting an will serve the remainder of Ellen Jarvis term, ending in 2013.

"The nerves get you a little bit the first time you sit up there with the rest of the board," said McPhillips. "But I'm excited to be a part of the great things we are going to accomplish in the next year-and-a-half."

With the addition of McPhillips, the board of supervisors now have a 4-1 Republican majority, including Chairman Leo Quinn, Vice Chairman Tom Panzer and freshman supervisor Mark McKee.

In an submitted to the media, lone Democrat Frank Feinberg criticized the Republican majority for not choosing a viable Democratic candidate to fill a seat occupied by a Democrat and said the decision showed a lack of biaprtisanship.

McPhillips declined comment on Feinberg's piece, but Panzer offered his reaction near the end of Thursday night's meeting, making clear he was displeased by Feinberg's action.

"If Frank felt that way, he should say so in private," said Panzer. "This is not a good way to start a collegial working relationship. It was completely uncalled for."

Thursday night's meeting also featured a presentation that Quinn called, "the cool part of the job."

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Quinn called forth Steve Pullara and Jim Cravero onto the dais and read a township proclamation honoring the duo for their .

"I'm speechless," said Cravero, who lives in Horsham and owns East Coast Recording Studio, located in the former Johnsville centrifuge building. "I thought they were just going to read something. I didn't know they would actually give us these certificates. It's great to receive recognition from the local township."

Pullara and Cravero, along with fellow collaborators Patrick Robinson, Gloria Domina and Kevin Mackie, earned the best childrens album Grammy in February for their work compiling All About Bullies...Big and Small, an album featuring songs from artists such as Blue October and Steven Van Zandt.

"They are all thrilled about the win," said Pullara. "Every artist that worked on the album gets a certificate. We'll get our actual trophies in about four weeks."

In other township business, Richard Manfredi was accepted as the full-time township manager for Warminster, removing the "interim" part of his title. In a move that Quinn characterized as Manfredi's commitment to improve Warminster's cost situation, his employment agreement states that Manfredi will not enroll in the township's pension plan or health benefit program, and he will not use a township-provided vehicle.

"If you take everything into account," said Quinn, "Rich's employment will cost Warminster $25,000 less than our previous manager, which is a 16 percent reduction."

The board also accepted the promotion of Peter Pietrangelo from citizen advisor to voting member of the Planning Commission, replacing the recently deceased Gerald DeRosa, a longtime and active member of the Warminster community.
