Fitzpatrick Honored By Humane Society

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick received the 2011 Humane Champion Award from the Humane Society of the United States.

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) was honored with the 2011 Humane Champion Award from the Humane Society of the United States during a ceremony in Washington D.C.

According to a press release from his office, Fitzpatrick earned the award for his leadership on an amendment to prevent the gutting of the Endangered Species Act and for earning a perfect score on the 2011 Humane Scorecard.

The 2011 Scorecard included votes on ending agribusiness subsidies, lethal predator control, and the Endangered Species Act and co-sponsorship of priority bills on puppy mills, horse slaughter, animal fighting, and chimpanzees warehoused in laboratories.

"I am proud to receive this award from the Humane Society on behalf of their supporters in Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties," Fitzpatrick said.  "I have been a long-time defender of those who cannot defend themselves, and I look forward to working with the Humane Society on promoting our common goals in the second session of the 112th Congress."
