Mixed Election Results for County Political Parties

By 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night, the re-election of President Barack Obama was not completely official, but Ann Marie Jordan felt pretty good after seeing the results of one of the major battleground states.

"When Fox News called Ohio for Obama, I knew we had it," said Jordan, a volunteer neighborhood team leader for Obama's Bucks County re-election campaign.

Not long after, the news networks began making their calls that Obama had earned a second term as Jordan's team of volunteers gathered at their headquarters on Main Street in Doylestown began celebrating the victorious night.

"It was the same boots on the ground effort we had in 2008 that helped him win tonight in Pennsylvania and the country," Jordan said. "All of our volunteers worked tirelessly to make this happen."

The celebration continued further up the street as the Bucks County Democratric Party watched the results stream in while partying on the second floor of M.O.M.'s Maxwell on Main. Despite his loss to Marguerite Quinn in 143rd District in the Pennsylvania Assembly, Joe Frederick was fired up by his party's overall successful night.

"As a candidate, Mitt Romney flip-flopped too much," said Frederick. "The people want somebody who is consistent and will stand up for the rights of everybody, and that's Barack Obama."

Frederick congratulated his opponent on her election victory, but pledged that she has not seen the last of him.

"This is my first campaign, and I loved being out there," said Frederick. "I'll definitely be back in two years."

The success of Quinn, Bernie O'Neill in the 29th district, Paul Clymer in the 145th district and Mike Fitzpatrick's re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives provided some solace to the Bucks County Republicans as they watched the results around the corner on Broad Street.

"My glass is always half-full," said committee chairperson Pat Poprik. "We managed to keep Mike Fitzpatrick in congress and hold onto the house. Business-minded individuals like Fitzpatrick need to be there to stop Obama's shenanigans."
