Volunteers Needed for New Warminster IT Committee

The Warminster Board of Supervisors approved the creation of an ad hoc information technology committee at last Thursday's meeting and is now asking for resident volunteers to join. 

According to a post on the Warminster Township home page, the purpose of the IT committee is to "work in concert with the Township Board of Supervisors through the Township Administration to review, assess, and make recommendations regarding the Township’s current Information Technology infrastructure."

Board Chairperson Leo Quinn proposed the committee's creation at the Jan. 3 , saying he would like to create a board focused on the hardware and software needs of the township.

The committee seats are open to any residents interested in participating. Those with strong backgrounds in the IT field are strongly requested to join the township's efforts. Supervisors hope to approve applicants by the Jan. 19 meeting, giving the committee enough time to elect officers, write a mission statement and determine the width of the committee's scope.

Some of it's duties may coincide with other departments, Quinn said, such as the communications advisory board, which oversees telecommunications issues for the township.

Quinn hopes to see a presentation of findings by September, giving the board enough time to incorporate any recommendations into the 2013 budget. The committee is scheduled to dissolve on Dec. 31, 2012.
