Warminster Board of Supervisors Approves Firing of Police Officer

The board okayed Chief Michael Murphy's request to terminate an officer who had been suspended.

Following a short executive staff meeting during the Warminster board of supervisors meeting Thursday night, the board (minus an absent Gail Johnson, who is on vacation) voted unanimously, 4-0, to approve Police Chief Michael Murphy's request to fire one of his officers.

The officer had been serving a suspension since February 18, 2011, and went through the required due process steps, including a Loudermill hearing, which gives a public employee the opportunity to present his case.

Township solicitor Michael Savona denied comment on the reasons behind the suspension and termination, only to say it was a personnel matter.
