Warminster Board of Supervisors to Consider Firing Police Officer

Police Chief Michael Murphy will request approval for the action during Thursday's meeting.

Police Chief Michael Murphy will request the approval of his decision to fire one of his officers during Thursday night's board of supervisors meeting at the Warminster Township building.

According to Ellen Jarvis, chairwoman of the Warminster board of supervisors, the terminated officer will be one of two possible candidates. While she could not identify the officers, Jarvis did confirm that both have been suspended for multiple grievances. One officer has been on suspension since 2010, and the other had been suspended last month.

Again, she could not go into detail about the cause of the suspensions, except to say they were not enacted because of public malfeasance.

As a result of the hiring freeze implemented during the recent union negotiations, the fired officer will not be replaced.

Chief Murphy could not be reached for comment.
