Warminster Supervisors Accept Jarvis' Resignation

The board has 30 days to name a replacement for Ellen Jarvis, who publicly resigned last Thursday after disputing the compensation of tax collector Barbara Loftus.

With a 3-0 vote, the Warminster Board of Supervisors accepted Ellen Jarvis' from her seat on the board during a special meeting Thursday evening. Supervisor Mark McKee was not in attendance due to a death in the family.

The remaining supervisors now have 30 days to select a replacement for Jarvis. If they cannot come to a decision by the end of the 30 day window, the township vacany board will make the selection.

Those interested for consideration should submit a resume and letter of intent to Township Manager Rich Manfredi by March 8. Chairman of the board Leo Quinn said he has already heard from between 15 and 20 people who are interested in applying.

Jarvis at the Feb. 16 township meeting and confirmed her decision in writing on Feb. 21. She had presented to the board what she believes are overpayments made to tax collector Barbara Loftus. After township solicitor Mary Eberle stated she had found no discrepancies, the rest of the board denied Jarvis' request to place the matter on the next agenda for discussion, prompting Jarvis to declare her resignation and leave the meeting.

"I believe there has been no wrongdoing on the part of our tax collector, as supported by the findings of our solicitor," Quinn read in a statement before last night's vote.
