Centennial Education Foundation to Hold Grant Awards Breakfast

The Centennial Education Foundation will present 40 district teachers with grant monies during a breakfast on April 22. The event will also recognize the individuals and businesses whose donations helped make the grants possible. 

The breakfast will be held at 7:15 a.m. at Ann’s Choice in Warminster, 10000 Ann’s Choice Way.

Each year, the education foundation honors individual teachers with up to $1,000 dollars to provide educational enrichment programs for their classrooms.  

This year, programs funded include a traveling history program, using primary resources, author programs, and theatre and arts programs.  The CEF has awarded approximately $500,000 in grants to teachers since the organization’s founding in 1997.

This year includes additional grant funding at $55,500 from the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Support from Hatboro Federal Savings, Quaint Oak Bank, Giant Food Stores, Fulton Bank, Susquehanna Bank and Waste Management, made it possible for CEF to help fund the upcoming Summer Enrichment Program in Centennial. The program will provide a variety of summer enrichment options for students including grades 4 through 8. 

CEF also received a grant from the Burpee Foundation for $10,650 to support environmental education programs. Other grants will be presented in memory of Kyle Quinn, Ron Froggatt, Bob Burnley and John and Emma Schumann. Additional support has come from W. Bruce Beaton Insurance, Ann’s Choice, the Southampton Business and Professional Association, the Southampton /Warminster Lions and Lioness Clubs, the TD Foundation, the Schrenk Foundation and the Centennial Education Association.

“We are very pleased to award grants to programs that promote enriched activities for our students and to be a part of the EITC program,” said Robert Phillips, President of the CEF.  “For a student who starts out in our district in the elementary grades, we believe there is close to a 100 percent chance that along their path to graduation, they will be affected by our programs. Our programs have impacted thousands of students since our inception in 1997.”
