Centennial Klippers Give Harlem Wizards Run for Their Money

The fundraising basketball game Thursday night benefited the Klinger Middle School Parent Teacher Organization.

Even before the first jumpball, it was pretty clear which team would emerge victorious Thursday night as the Harlem Wizards displayed some high-quality hardwood arcobatics against the formidable Centennial Klippers, a 37-member roster consisting of teachers and administrators from the district schools, including Klinger and Log College middle schools, and two students from William Tennent.

Some relaxed defense by the Wizards and bonus 10- and 5-point shots helped keep the faculty team close, but it was only a matter of time before the traveling professionals shut the door and came away with an 84-80 victory. The crowd-pleasing event proved the old adage that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, but how you play the game.

Hundreds of people filled the audience and helped raise money for the Klinger Middle School Parent Teacher Organization, which will primarily use the funds to fund many of the planned eighth grade activities.
