Family Connections Genealogy Classes

Family Connections Genealogy Group is pleased to announce that they will be offering genealogy classes at the Bensalem branch of the Bucks County Free Library.  The series of three one-hour classes will begin on May 9, 2012.  The tuition is $20 per class or $35 for the two presented each evening.   With your laptop and a library card, we will show you a wealth of information available online to family researchers.  There will also be time to collaborate on your own family line. The topics covered in the Spring/Summer Sessions will be:

May 9, 2012 Family Connections/Get Started We will be using five basic steps to start you on your way to making family connections.  We will examine forms and record keeping.  We will also discuss ways to preserve family artifacts that you may discover on your search.

May 9, 2012  Census Records

Find out what's happening in Warminsterwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

We will be showing how to use the census records to find your ancestors from 1790 through 1940.

June 13, 2012 Military Records

Find out what's happening in Warminsterwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Military Records may offer a vast insight into your families past.  Finding a veteran ancestor may provide knowledge about the generations that came before.  Correctly documenting an ancestor’s military record may create a feeling of patriotism and belonging in our American History.

June 13, 2012 Vital Records/Church Records

These records provide a wealth of information about ancestors births, deaths, marriages and family members.  We will be investigating the information available to trace your line.

July 11, 2012 Immigrant Ancestors

We will be examining records in America to trace your ancestors to their homeland.  With this information, we will examine records available across the seas.    If you contact us ahead of time, we will try to provide resources in the countries where you are searching.

July 11, 2012 Irish Ancestors

This session will focus on the two waves of Irish immigration.  The Scotch-Irish before 1776 and the Famine Irish around and after 1840.
