Leary Parents Take Tour of New Classrooms

Willow Dale opened its doors for a look around the renovated areas.

The monthly meeting of the Leary Family and Faculty Association had a larger than usual turnout Tuesday night due to the proposed tour of the renovations at Willow Dale Elementary.

With Phase I completed and Phase II underway, Leary and Willow Dale principals Michael Donnelly and Denise Wettstein split the more than 40 parents into two groups and showed them around the new classrooms.

The meeting saw the beginning of the mergers of the two schools’ parent organizations. For the 2011-2012 school year, a representative from each school will share committee chair duties before returning to the normal format the following year.

A selection needs to have at least 125 signatures before it is presented to the school board, which has ultimate discretion on the final names for the schools. The candidates are:

  1. Pioneer, Craven, Nobel
  2. Eastern Hemlock, Mountain Laurel, Keystone
  3. Perseverance, Gemini, York
  4. Willow Dale McDonald, Davis
  5. Liberty, Independence, Justice
