Students, Teachers Celebrate Crowning of 2011 Mr. Tennent

Graduating student Adam Asterito won the title based on his interviewing skills and charisma.

William Tennent High School Senior Adam Asterito, 18, of Warminster, was named the 2011 Mr. Tennent Friday night, after the conclusion of the talent portion of the competition held in the high school’s gymnasium.

“I just hope everything goes as planned,” Asterito said before going on to perform his stand-up comedy act in front of a crowd of parents, students and faculty.

Asterito went up against nine other seniors, competing in five categories for the title. Each category was judged by a panel of five William Tennent teachers and a husband of one of teachers.

In order to be nominated for the title of Mr. Tennent, seniors must have no grades below a C, a very clean discipline record and strong attendance during their senior year, said Eric Goldsman.

Goldsman, a math teacher at the high school, serves as a co-advisor to the Student Government and the Athletic counsel.  Goldsman is also responsible for organizing the Mr. Tennent competition.

Asterito is a member of the high school’s football and track teams, involved in student government and the athletic counsel, and is also a member of Mathletes – a club that participates in the Bucks County Interscholastic Math League, competing against other talented mathematics students.

After graduation, Asterito plans to attend Drexel University with a major in biomedical engineering.
