Tennent Graduates Embark to Future of Endless Possibilities

William Tennent's Class of 2013 graduated Thursday afternoon during a commencement ceremony brimming with optimism and celebration.

The future shined brighter than the afternoon sun for the 454 William Tennent seniors who marched onto the high school's stadium field Thursday for a graduation ceremony brimming with optimism and celebration.

"I don't find it unreasonable that in our lifetimes, we will see the cures for cancer and AIDS or the advent of space travel and extraterrestrial colonization," said senior class President Oleksandr Lushchyk. "The more I think about it, the more I realize that this is a fantastic time to be alive."

At this point, each student's path will chart its own course, but they carry the tools necessary to navigate their way toward a destination that is murky right now, but will begin to take shape in the next few years.

Approximately 88 percent of the graduating seniors are moving on to four or two year colleges, with the help of more than $1.7 million in total scholarships. Seven percent of the grads are entering the workforce right away, while nine men and women have chosen to serve our country in the United States Marines and Navy.

"Learning never stops," school board President Dr. Andrew Pollock told the graduates. "Strive to be the best at whatever you do, and work to make the world a better place."
