Termination of Superintendent Contract Finalized

The school board appointed Dr. Joyce Mundy as substitute superintendent through the end of June.

The Centennial School Board voted 7-2 Tuesday night to end former Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Cressman's contract one year early, weeks after Cressman took a leave of absence from her role. She will receive paid administrative leave until June 30.

The board also approved naming Assistant Superintendent Dr. Joyce Mundy as the substitute superintendent through June 30.

“The Board of School Directors for the Centennial School District and Dr. Jennifer Foight-Cressman have mutually agreed to terminate Dr. Cressman’s employment as the District’s superintendent of schools effective June 30, 2013,” said school board President Dr. ANdrew Pollock in a prepared statement.

“Dr. Cressman is deeply grateful for the many opportunities the school district has afforded her over her 17 years of service. She wishes the school district well as it continues to endeavor to provide the best possible education for the community’s children,” the statement said.

Phillyburbs.com reports that Cressman has been named in a federal lawsuit filed by former William Tennent assistant principal Johnna Ithier, who claims that she was forced to take an unpaid leave of absence as retaliation for her complaints about how she had been treated.
