Whiz Kids' name and ages: First graders at Willow Dale Elementary School
Accomplishment: As part of their own Valentine's Day Celebration, first graders in Mrs. Lisa Laatsch and Ms. Kathleen Furlong's class at Willow Dale Elementary School wanted to do something for others. Through student suggestions and discussion, these first graders decided their Valentine's craft for their own party should given to someone else. The students made colorful cards and handmade tissue paper flowers that were given to cheer up the sick children at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Homeroom parents eagerly helped gather supplies to help these first graders with their "caring" project, which supports the school-wide character program Character Counts.
