Pioneers 75-Pound Team Crowned League Champions

This is the Pioneers' first championship victory since 2006.

The Warminster Pioneers 75-pound squad defeated the Northeast Outlaws 20-6, earning the Keystone State League Freedom Division Championship last weekend.

The young players had a tough task ahead of them, meeting the undefeated Outlaws at Germantown High School on a chilly Sunday morning. Their opponents had already beat them twice this season, but that did not stop the Pioneers from taking the ball down the field for a touchdown, leaving the second half with a 7-6 lead.

The defense stepped up big time in the second half by keeping the Outlaws out of the end zone and allowing the offense some breathing room to put the game out of reach. This is the Pioneers' first championship since 2006, according to Melissa Gallagher, president of the Warminster Pioneers and Cheerleading Association.

"Our goal is to have the most successful, fun and safe football and cheer organization in the area," said Gallagher. "The Pioneers will continue to make an impact in the lives of the youth in this community and our future is very bright thanks to these kids."

The 65-pound team also made it to the championship round this year. Even though they did not come home with a victory, the KSL Freedom Division runners-up had a very successful 7-3 season.

Registration for the 2014 Football and Cheerleading season will be open in the beginning of March. Check out www.Warminsterpioneers.org for more information.
