Warminster Teen Seeks Strong Finish In Online Contest

William Tennent graduate Matt McAnally is competing in Champion's sponsorship contest, with a top prize of $50,000 for his racing exploits.

Matt McAnally has a dream. Well, actually, two dreams at the moment.

One involves the everyday day challenge of speeding around the oval tracks of the NASCAR circuit, trading paint, drafting, and blazing down the straightaways to a checkered flag win against the likes of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart.

The second dream is to win the Federal Mogul Always a Champion contest now taking place online. Winning the online contest could earn McAnally a sponsorship from Champion worth $10,000. In addition, he could also win a 50,000 top prize. Both will be announced at the Daytona 500 on February 19.

McAnally is asking for people to go to alwaysachampion.com website, register and cast a vote for him.

"People can vote every day until February 5," he said.

So far, McAnally thinks it’s going pretty good. His friends, cousins, friends of cousins and family have all been voting.

“I think my chances are really good to win the sponsorship,” he said, “I’m hoping to finish the voting competition real strong.”

On the website, a video McAnally made highlights his racing career and accomplishments over the last 13 years. As he explains in the video, financial support and sponsorship are keys to winning.

McAnally finished his most recent racing season strong with a win at the Kutztown Fair race events. This season he’ll be taking his driving skills to the modifieds at New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey with his move up to the next racing level driving a family-owned crate car.

The McAnally family has a history racing as a part of it. His father, Jim, raced on the stock circuit in such places as Flemington, N.J. Paternal grandfather raced locally at the Hatfield Speedway. Even sister Jamie has joined in, racing on the quarter midget circuit, .

Mary McAnally, Matt’s Mom has been overseeing the public relations part of the effort by spreading the word on Facebook and other social media outlets hoping to garner that one more vote to bring her son across the finish line with a win.

As McAnally put it, it would be pretty cool to get the sponsorship because then he could work on his second dream; Cutting it loose on a NASCAR track near you.
