Thursday's board of supervisors meeting at the Warminster administration building started off with a special presentation that celebrated the achievement of state champion .
Head coach Jim Ricci and the three team captains, Alex Heck, Taylor Kaminski and Lauren Nealon, accepted a township proclamation from supervisor chairperson Leo Quinn, who was impressed at the team's three-year run of championships.
"They lost a lot of talent last year," said Quinn. "To come back and win again says a lot about the quality of coaching and the integrity of the players."
The presentation capped off a week that also saw the team receive special recognition by the Bucks County Board of Commissioners during its regular meeting, held on Wednesday at Archbishop Wood. Commissioners Charles Martin, Robert Loughery and Diane Ellis-Marseglia proclaimed May 16 as “Archbishop Wood Pennsylvania State Champions Day” throughout the county.
“We are very excited that the commissioners wanted to bring local government to Archbishop Wood,” Principal Mary Harkins told the assemblage. “Our school has brought great honor to Bucks County,” she added, noting the aforementioned state titles, an award-winning band and multiple National Merit scholars.
Principal Harkins described the school’s dynamic student body as “education in action.”
