Wood Opens District Playoffs with Romp

The Vikings rolled to a 58-25 win over Freire Charter School in the opening round of the District 12 Class AAA tournament.

The Archbishop Wood girls basketball team turned a 20-point halftime lead into a 58-25 romp over Freire Charter School during Wednesday night's opening game of the District 12 Class AAA playoffs, phillyburbs.com reports.

The Vikings' Alex Heck led the team with 17 points, 15 of which were scored in the first half. The Dragons made a run in the third quarter, but the Vikings finally found an answer for their opponents' lead scorer, Chelsea Woods. The Wood bench took over scoring duties in the fourth quarter on the team's way to victory.

Wood moves on to the next round with a game on Saturday, team, time and site to be determined.
