Warminster Whiz Kids: Girl Scout Troop 21520

Junior Girl Scout Troop 21520 helped the community pay tribute to veterans on Memorial Day.

Whiz Kids' name and ages: Fourth and fifth grade members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 21520

Accomplishment: The scouts in Junior Girl Scout Troop 21520 participated in a ceremony designed to honor those who have served our country. Part of Warminster's Memorial Day celebration, the remembrance ceremony featured the Girl Scouts placing poppies at the base of the flag pole as the names of local veterans who have died in the past year were read aloud. Twenty local veterans were honored during the service.

Following the ceremony, the troop walked in the Warminster Memorial Day parade and distributed handwritten thank you cards and red carnations to veterans they encountered along the parade route.

Key to Awesomeness: In the five years since the troop was formed, the girls have participated in several community service projects, including: picking up litter at local parks, preparing meals for the elderly and making activity boxes for children in the hospital. The troop is lead by Sara Acklin, Keith Acklin, Jamie Golderer and Theresa Hebling.
