Tennent Hosts 19th Annual Celebration of Bands Saturday Night

As the host, William Tennent does not compete, but takes the field to perform an exhibition following the band performances.

If you enjoy the music and pageantry of marching band competitions, William Tennent High School in Warminster is the place to be on October 19, 2013. The high school will host the 19th Annual Celebration of Bands at Alumni Stadium. Bands from around the area will compete for awards. Among the high schools represented are William Tennent, Cherry Hill East, Council Rock North, Harry S. Truman, Owen J. Roberts, Montgomery (NJ), Neshaminy, Palisades, Pennridge, Pennsbury, and Souderton.

According to Instrumental Music Director Joseph Lovecchio, “This is adjudication; bands compete against a national standard for ratings of Superior - Outstanding - Excellent - Very Good - Good – Fair. There are also ‘caption’ awards for Best Music, Best Marching, Best Overall Effect, and awards for Outstanding Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, and Auxiliary (Color Guard).”

The Celebration is one of the few shows that include a full retreat, a spectacular event at the end of the evening when all bands file on to the field and more than 1,000 musicians perform the Star Spangled Banner.
