The American Red Cross collected blood donations from students and faculty members in the high school's gymnasium on Wednesday.
Archbishop Wood Junior Katherine Flanagan gave blood for the first time this week and she didn't even have to leave school property to do so. Her high school, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, hosted the first of two annual blood drives Wednesday. "It hurt a lot less than I thought it was going to," said Flanagan about the approximately 15-minute process. Her friend and fellow student, Madison Tamburini, stood by the side of the table and encouraged her the entire time. Tamburini, who didn't meet 17-year-old age requirement for donors, said she wanted to be there. She is using the experience to prepare for next year, when she will be eligible to give.
